This run showed me a couple of things, firstly I am absolutely out of shape and secondly 8 km is a lot farther than I remembered it being. I dont know if anyone has competed in track and cross country and taken a decade off or so, but it is extremely frustrating starting back up. Everything hurts, I can't run at a sustained pace and I keep lamenting over how slow Im going.
I am training for the Scotiabank Marathon in September, so I have roughly 13 weeks to get ready. Im going to aim for a 3:20 pace in the marathon, which will be challenging as evidenced by my 8km of pain today. In any case, im pretty excited to get started back up into running, and cant wait to actually get back into shape.
